The Retrieve password option does NOT require you to fill in a charactername. Only if you can't use the normal option AND need to contact support bout it, you are asked bout a charactername. In those questions you can leave blank the quostions you are unable to answer. So I just got Guild wars 2 about 3 days ago. I've been using the same password from my old Guild wars 1 accout. nothing for guild wars one has been letting me log in, and trying to post the CD code has no result, i try making a new account, says "cd code in use" yet i try resetting my password and it says all my emails are incorrect (i have 3 emails, i tried all three, none worked) all the tickets when i go to submit one in the support are for guild wars 2, and since im having a problem for guild wars 1

I found my serial code by doing a search on my gmail inbox, at first it didn't work when searching for "guild wars" or "guild wars 2", the fact is that the email containing the serial code was sent by "arenanet", and that's where I found it.

SMS isn't flawless. My girlfriend had an authenticator on her phone that only triggers in new places, forgot about it. Upgraded her phone and suddenly she was locked out of her guild wars account the next time she went anywhere and tried to play. It did get resolved, but not for a few days.

If the code doesn't arrive within sixty minutes*, you can either wait longer (we’ve had reports of codes suddenly delivering after an hour or so) or contact our support team for help changing your authentication options. If you end up receiving your code while waiting for a reply, simply let us know so we can close out your ticket!
Seems like once every few months, if I accidentally un-check the "remember password" button, my current password typed in again will not work. I'm sure some will say, "are you sure it's the right password?". Well yes, I am sure. I've written it down, and typed it in exactly as it is supposed to be. For some reason Gw2 just tells me its invalid. My two friends have not received any password reset emails. Both played WoW for many years (but not Diablo 3). However, neither of them responded to the email authentication when you make a GW2 account. Both are still able to play the game despite that step. The only way to temporary fix the issue is to delete the local.dat into my guild wars 2 folder and replace it with a my old version that i back-up two weeks ago. But once i log out, the next time i log-in the local.dat is overwritten and so the issue back. .
